Latoya Harris, LCSW
Latoya (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been working in the human services and mental health field since 2004. Latoya received a Bachelor's degree from Virginia State University. After graduating, she worked in various settings, including community service boards and agencies providing direct services such as Mental Health Skill Building (MHSB), Intensive In-home (IIH), and Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) to individuals diagnosed with intellectual disabilities, Autism, mental illness, and substance use disorders. Working at these agencies allowed Latoya to gain insight into the unique needs of the community and increased her understanding of the "person in the environment" analogy.
In 2014, she graduated with a Master's in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. Latoya continued her work in the community, providing services for people experiencing homelessness in the Richmond area, crisis services, case management, and currently private practice.
Latoya has expertise in working with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts. She also helps individuals work through relationship conflicts, attachment issues, transitional life periods, and better navigate life with an ADHD/ADD diagnosis. Latoya is gender and sexuality affirming.
Her approach to therapy utilizes elements of trauma-informed care, including Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing, Parts work, Narrative Therapy, and techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Theory.
Latoya is an eclectic therapist, using a myriad of theories and techniques, meeting the client where they are with the intention of creating a safe place for one to journey through the ebbs and flows of life. Latoya offers kindness, nurturing, and a judgment-free space, allowing individuals the opportunity to connect with themselves for healing.
